Hazard Reveals New Contract Negotiations
Chelsea star Eden Hazard has revealed that he has started negotiating a new contract with Chelsea, which would finally put an end to the transfer rumours. Hazard has been heavily linked with a move to Paris St Germain in the last few months. PSG have been open in trying to persuade Hazard to move across the Channel. It has been rumoured that the club would be coming in with a £ 75 million offer in the next few weeks. This comes just weeks after they managed to sign David Luiz for £ 50 million.
Due to the incredible wealth at the disposal of the French club, it would be almost impossible for Chelsea to keep him unless they signed the player on a new long-term contract. Hence, they have opened negotiations with the 23-year-old despite the fact that he still has three years left on his current deal. Hazard is one of the highest earning players in the Premier league with his contract reportedly paying him around £ 150,000 per week. This new deal is expected to take his pay packet close to £ 200,000 per week.
Only a handful of players get salaries in this range, but Chelsea are unlikely to think twice about signing their top goal scorer on this new contract.
"I am staying at Chelsea, 100%. There is nothing more to say - everything is clear. Of course in football you never know, but I am under contract with Chelsea and I want to stay there - the rumours exist to sell newspapers.
Moreover, I am in discussions with Chelsea for a new contract. It is only the beginning of the talks right now so we have time, but the fact that Chelsea have offered me a new deal means they have a lot of confidence in me that I can do a good job,” said Hazard.
