Chelsea manager Thomas Tuchel has revealed that England international Ruben Loftus-Cheek could start the Carabao Cup third round tie with Aston Villa on Wednesday night.

Chelsea welcome Villa to Stamford Bridge with a place in the fourth round on offer and academy graduate Loftus-Cheek could be handed his first start this season.
Tuchel spoke to reporters about Loftus-Cheek during his pre-match presser ahead of the Villa game. According to him, Loftus-Cheek deserved the opportunity he was given when he came on as a substitute in the slim win over Russian champions Zenit St. Petersburg last week Tuesday on the Champions League stage and that he could be handed another chance in the Chelsea team for the Villa game.

Loftus-Cheek spent the whole of last season at West London rivals Fulham but he could not save them from dropping into the Championship once again. He returned to Chelsea this summer and was expected to leave the club either on another loan spell or on a permanent deal. Loftus-Cheek opted to stay and fight for his place at Chelsea under the new management of Thomas Tuchel.
Since his time in the Chelsea first team, Loftus-Cheek has been sent on loan to two London clubs namely Crystal Palace and Fulham.
Chelsea boss Tuchel has a big Premier League clash with holders Manchester City on the horizon and he's expected to make several changes to his starting line-up ahead of the game billed for Stamford Bridge.
Loftus-Cheek has a lot of competition in the Chelsea midfield with the likes of N'GoloKante, Jorginho, Mateo Kovacic and Saul Niguez ahead of him in the pecking order. Apart from Loftus-Cheek, Chelsea boss Tuchel could give another chance to Spanish player Saul against Villa in the Carabao Cup after his poor debut against the same opposition in the Premier League earlier this month. Despite the poor debut from Saul, Chelsea still managed to beat Villa 3-0 at home thanks to the brace from Belgian international RomeluLukaku.
