MALDINI CONFIRMS CHELSEA'S STRIKER ARRIVAL

Chelsea striker Olivier Giroud has finally left the Blues and will link up with Italian Serie A giants after finally deciding that he would no longer continue his career at Stamford Bridge. Giroud was a bit-part player for Chelsea last season as Thomas Tuchel preferred to use him in selected games with Timo Werner being his preferred option up front. The France international attacker was so close to leaving Chelsea last summer but the move was blocked by the Blues as they were not able to find a replacement for him. Inter Milan were the club that almost signed him last summer but he has now joined their rivals, AC Milan.

Milan manager Paolo Maldini has confirmed the transfer after saying that the club needed to sign a striker of Giroud's caliber, insisting that the player would bring a wealth of experience and add some more technical ability to the team. Giroud is expected to form a formidable strike partnership with veteran Swedish striker Zlatan Ibrahimovic as they look to try and win titles next season and also have a solid campaign in Europe after earning themselves a return to the UEFA Champions League.

Chelsea may not have found a replacement for Giroud yet but 5hey believe that now is the best time to let go of the former Arsenal man as they may not be able to get any fee for him at a later time. Giroud has also confirmed the transfer on his social media account after thanking everyone at Chelsea including his teammates, the manager, the staff, and the fans for a brilliant spell at the London club.

Chelsea will now go all out to sign Haaland so the Norwegian can form a deadly and solid partnership with Werner in the Chelsea attack next season.
