PREDICTED CHELSEA TEAM TO FACE CRYSTAL PALACE
Chelsea will now switch focus back on the Premier League as they travel to Selhurst Park to take on Crystal Palace in a London derby fixture. In their last league fixture against West Bromwich Albion, the Blues suffered a humiliating and demoralizing defeat, losing the game by 5-2 at Stamford Bridge and marking Thomas Tuchel's first defeat since taking over from former manager Frank Lampard.
However, they seem to have banished the memory of that defeat as they ended up securing a 2-0 away victory against Portuguese side FC Porto away from home in the first leg of their UEFA Champions League quarter-final fixture. A wonderful first-half strike by midfielder Mason Mount and a brilliant effort from Ben Chilwell to move past the keeper and slot home a fine finish gave the Blues a commanding 2-0 lead with two away goals to celebrate.
They will now return to League action on Saturday evening looking to clinch another win as they continue to hot up the battle for a top-four finish and secure Champions League football ahead of next season.
Ahead of the match against Crystal Palace, Tuchel is expected to field a very strong side capable of getting the job done so they can immediately turn their focus on the second leg of their tie against Porto which will be played at Stamford Bridge next week.
Edouard Mendy is set to start in goal for Chelsea after a fine showing against the Portuguese side earlier in the week and could have a defense line of Chilwell, Azpilicueta, Chilwell, Rudiger, and Christiansen.
In midfield, French midfielder N'golo Kanté is expected to get the nod for a starting spot and could be partnered with Jorginho. Werner is expected to lead the line once again and will be joined by Havertz and Mount in the lineup.
Predicted Chelsea XI: Mendy, James, Azpilicueta, Christiansen, Rudiger, Chilwell, Mount, Kanté, Jorginho, Havertz, Werner.
